Tarmacadam, often referred to simply as 'Tarmac' is a cost-effectie way to provide a rubust low-maintanence surface for driveways.
It is available in dark red, though more usually supplied in black, it can be laid over a number of other surfaces to quickly improve the appearance of driveways and vehicle parking areas.
Unfortunately, and because of its relatively straightforward application - unlike, say, block paving - Tarmac invites the 'cowboys'.
Whether overlaying old concrete or excavating a driveway from scratch, there are a number of important considerations to take into account. The sub-base must be firm and well compacted; the tarmacadum must be laid in sufficient thickness, and there must be adequate drainage
